Registration

A small non-refundable registration fee is payable when you first join the Taoist Tai Chi Society. At the time of registration you will receive a blue Society T-shirt and an information pack. Membership lapses when you have not paid dues for 3 consecutive months. If you wish to rejoin after a 3-month absence you will be required to pay a small re-registration fee.

Dues Policies

  • Dues should be paid at the beginning of each month.

  • All branches accept cash and cheques as payment. If you pay by cash, please try to bring the correct change as this helps your instructor.

  • When you pay your dues, please present your membership card to your instructor to be updated. This is your proof of payment.

  • Continuing students should have one home class where they pay dues.

Membership Fees

The Society collects annual subscriptions from members rather than charging for each lesson taught. This means that members of the Taoist Tai Chi Society are eligible to attend any class offered at the Society's premises around the world.

The exact cost of membership can be found out by enquiring at your local branch.

Terms of Membership

Membership dues are not fees for instruction, but rather dues for belonging to our international organization. Our members may attend classes, workshops and any training programs at any of over 500 Taoist Tai Chi branches around the world.

Beginner members should attend a home class while they are learning the set of 108 movements. They are welcome to attend any other beginner class with the instructor’s permission. Members beyond the beginner level are encouraged to attend classes other than their home class provided that this is acceptable to the instructor of the class they are visiting. All members are welcome at practices and workshops (workshops may have an additional fee).

Members are asked to support the society by regularly paying dues whether attending classes or not. If you visit the club even once in a calendar month, you will be required to pay dues to remain in good standing. Membership privileges of those who owe outstanding dues may be suspended until dues are paid.

Exemptions and Waivers

All members must pay the initial registration fee.

Any member experiencing financial hardship may apply to the local branch committee for a reduction or exemption of monthly membership dues by filling out a "Request for Dues Reduction" form. Members who are eligible will be granted a reduction or waiver of dues for a period to be determined by the committee at which time they may petition the committee for a review and possible extension of the dues reduction or exemption status.

Applicants are encouraged to contribute as volunteers, as are all members of the Society.
